Combat Rotation for Cataclysm

Posted on 10 June, 2015

First of all there are still two separate rotations to choose from and it is still unclear which one will be more beneficial at this time. However, it’s important to remember that a Rupture rotation will always be more beneficial on Tank And Spank fights where movement is limited whereas a Ruptureless rotation will always be more beneficial on high movement and target switching fights.

Rupture Rotation

  1. SS to 3 CP
  2. SnD
  3. SS to 4 CP
  4. 1 x RvS
  5. Rupture
  6. SS to 4 CP
  7. if SnD < 10 seconds then SnD
  8. else if Rupture is about to fall off, 1 x RvS then Rupture
  9. otherwise 1 x RvS then Eviscerate.
  10. repeat from point 6.

Ruptureless Rotation

  1. SS to 3 CP
  2. SnD
  3. SS to 4 CP
  4. 1 x RvS
  5. Eviscerate
  6. SS to 4 CP
  7. if SnD < 10 seconds then SnD
  8. else 1 x RvS then Eviscerate
  9. repeat from point 6.

Extra Combo Points
Please remember while practicing these rotations that you may obtain extra combo points so that you obtain 4 combo points before you have completed 4 Sinister Strikes. Should this happen simply skip the remainder SS and move on to the next step. This rotation is a guideline for how many combo points you want up before you do your next move and not how many times you actually do each ability.

Revealing Strike (RvS)
Revealing Strike is a new combat ability that enhances the performance of your finishing moves. However it does not affect Slice and Dice and does not affect the duration of Rupture. It does however affect the damage of both Rupture and Eviscerate. Please note it has also been found that using RvS at 5CP is a DPS loss. If you get an extra CP from SS and end up with 5 CP do not use RvS.

Cool Downs
The cool downs used by Combat rogues have also changed somewhat and this affects the way in which we use them. Primarily [Blade Flurry] is now no longer beneficial on single target mobs. This means that even though the cool down has been significantly reduced (down to 30 seconds) we won’t be popping this ability on every cool down anymore. Primarily this ability is best reserved for multiple targets in conjunction with [Adrenaline Rush] or [Killing Spree]. These latter two cool downs though can be used on single target mobs and should be used on every single cool down as much as possible to maximise DPS.
